News and Announcements
This coming weekend we will be holding softball assessments for all new players to the league. The assessments will be held at St Peter’s fields at 12noon each day. Returning players do not need to attend but are welcome to if they want to get out onto the field for a little bit. T-ball players (age 6 or younger) also do not need to attend.
Players only need to attend one of the sessions.
Also due to covid protocols players are requested to supply their own glove, bat and helmet by the time games start. For the assessments we will have equipment available to be used that will be wiped down between uses.
When you arrive please check in at the check in station and each player will be assigned a number that will help the coaches during the assessments.
I know we are probably all itching to get out of the house and do some fun things. It has been far too long since we have heard the crack of the bats, the chats and the teams having a blast on the fields.
So we are very excited to announce that we have opened up registration for the spring softball league. We are looking to host a t-ball league (6 and under), minor league (7 – 11) and a travel league (U14). So spread the word and let’s get everyone registered.
We are working closely with the park’s department and will be following the recommendations that the Cambridge Health board will be outlining.
Registration is now open at – - http://www.cambridgegirlssoftball.com/forms/23414-2021-Spring-Softball-Registration
I know a lot of us would love to be back out on the softball field. It truly has been a crazy time but as always we hope that everyone is safe and healthy during this time.
We also have some great news. We are looking to put together some Fall Season Softball.
This will be a great chance to get out on the field safely as we will be following all the safety protocols but at the same time having some fun while doing it.
We have opened up registrations for the Fall Ball offerings.
There are two offerings and the level of interest will result in final selections. Girls need to be ages 10 and up.
First offering is a travel based team. This is a more competitive league and games will be double headers on the weekends only. Currently none of these games will be played in Cambridge.
Second offering is an intra-city league play. These games could vary between weekday evenings as well as weekends. It will be non-competitive play with other girls from within the city.
Season will start shortly after Labor Day and will last approx. 6 weeks. Please use the link below to register.
Everyone needs to register in advance there will be no on field registrations. We ask that if you are interested you please register as soon as possible so we can work on finalizing the offerings. If you have any questions please let us know. Also there is no cost at this time for Fall Softball.
SPREAD THE WORD!!
As always we hope everyone is safe and healthy during this time.
We have been working very closely with the Parks Department in regards to the potential of Summer Softball and unfortunately at this time the fields will not be open for summer softball. So there will be no official summer softball program.
There could be the possibility though that we get some level of approval to at least do some scrimmages in the up and coming months. As soon as we get the approval we will be reaching out and putting together some teams. So stay tuned. In the meantime if you have any questions please let us know.
Irving and the CGSL Board
We miss seeing all the girls and families at the fields. We hope everyone is safe and healthy during this time.
Some GREAT NEWS! We are currently trying to play Summer softball in the Middle Essex league. This is a travel team that plays at least 2 games a week for 7 weeks. Usually 1 home 1 away. It will begin On July 6th as long as we have proceeded to Level 3, on the states Covid 19 plan.
We also are waiting to hear from the city about opening our fields as well.
We know a lot of people will have questions so please read the attach link https://www.mass.gov/doc/outdoor-recreation-task-force-presentation-5-18-20/download, and know that our girls safety is our #1 priority.
CGSL is also currently re-writing our code of conduct and by laws to reflect guidelines on the Covid-19 disease.
Please respond by June 1st if you are interested in playing. email@example.com
Once we have clearance we will also hold practice TBD. 18u,14u,12u. So again please let us know if you would be potentially interested in playing this summer.
