Spring Minors

The Spring season is coming to a close but your thirst for softball has grown, don’t worry – Summer Softball is starting next week. So come on and sign up for our 12U, 14U or 18U softball teams. On average 2 games per week during the week, one at home and one on the road. It is a great opportunity to continue to refine your softball skills as well as have a blast playing softball for another 7 weeks.

Fantastic news! It is with extreme pleasure that I get to tell you we have secured coaches for the up and coming season. So, this means the games will go on!!!! Get those bat’s and gloves ready.

Registration is currently open on line via the registration link on our website. On line payment link is currently down but you can still register and we will follow up later in regards to payments.

PLEASE NOTE THAT RETURNING PLAYERS NEED TO REGISTER BY 4/3 (latest date Sunday 4/7) IN ORDER TO SECURE THEIR SPOT. Reason for this is that on Friday 4/5 from 6pm – 8pm we will be hosting placements/registration for new players at Tobin School Gym and then on Sunday 4/7 from 11 – 1 we will be hosting another session of placements/registrations – Location is currently TBD.

After these two session, we will be placing all newly registered players. So if you are a returning player that has not registered you could end up being assigned to a different team. So, register early.

Also please note that the major’s will be changing their structure this year. We have opted to join into the GBL (Greater Boston League) and will be having a U12 as well as a U14 team. These teams will not only play games within Cambridge but they will also travel to surrounding cities as well to play. This gives this group of girls the opportunity to start to see what high school softball is like.

Minor League Softball is for participants 8-12 years old and currently has 4 minor league teams: Ruby Reds, Lightning, Alley Cats and Tigers.

We continue to teach and build on the fundamentals of softball and begin focusing on developing specific softball skills (pitching, base fielding and catching behind home plate). Teams may utilize include “machine pitch,” “coach pitch” during practice sessions. During games we have players pitch and have coach guidance on particular plays.

There is no minimum or maximum composition for rosters, but most teams have rosters in the 8-12 range. Within the Minor League we have the “bring a friend” program in place where we try to match up girls that know each other on the same team to help make the transition into league/team softball easier.

All games are played during the week (5:45pm start time) with a maximum of 3 games per week. There is one weekend game during the season and that is the All-Star game in June.
