To Members Past and Present,

As many of you are probably already aware, Cambridge Girls Softball and Hespeler Minor Softball will be joining forces for the up-coming 2012 playing season. We are both extremely excited as this new arrangement moves forward and feel it is a positive move for softball in Cambridge.

Hespeler Minor Softball will focus their efforts on the recreational house league and is looking forward to welcoming all of Cambridge Girls Softball house league players into their league.

Cambridge Girls Softball will concentrate on the Rep Travel Teams for players 9 - 18 years of age.

Both Associations are looking forward to this joint venture and being able to focus and provide the

best programs that we can offer for your children.

CGSA will continue to hold our season tryouts at the beginning of September each year,

with all welcome to come out.

There are still some teams seeking players for travel team positions for 2012.

**Squirt Division: Players born 2000 - 2001

It was a building year for the girls at the Mite Coyotes level this year.  Although the points did not show, with only 3 wins, the year was a successful one.  The focus was on the basic fundaments of softball and we accomplished this.

The girls participated in tournaments in Waterloo, Niagara Falls and the Grand Championships in Halton Hills.  It was in their final tournament that the importance of playing together and working as a team was apparent.

July 8th - 10th, 2011

In a hotly contested 14 team tournament with mighty teams representing the likes of Oakville, Brampton, Halton, Mississauga, Scarborough and Whitby, the Cambridge Coyote Squirts did Cambridge proud by bringing home the gold. The girls played exceptional ball coming through to win as a team. With only 11 runs against and 40 for, outstanding pitching was showcased by Amy Claydon, Presly Buchanan and Sarah Costa. Shutting teams down with awesome defense were Kylie Bilodeau, Beth Fleming and Hayley Pettis. Bilodeau's arm was hot behind the plate throwing numerous base runners out. Timely hits and opportunistic walks were achieved by Carsyn Harvey, Makenna Ross, Kaleigh  MacIntyre and Ashley Clark. Top teams were defeated in preliminary rounds with Cambridge sweeping the Brampton Blazers 6-2, Halton Hills 10-2, Niagara Falls 9-3, Oakville Angels 4-1. They beat the Mississauga Tigers 4-1 in the semi-final game and the Brantford Bobcats 7-2 in the championship final.  Excellent coaching was provided by Scott Buchanan, Paul Blair and Carolyn Costa(bench) to win all 6 games played.  The team is now undefeated 10 games out. Provincial Qualifiers are the weekend of July 29, League Playoffs are the weekend of August 5 and Provincials are August 12-14 in Cobourg.
